New Life in Christ
At Resurrection, we believe God sent His Only Son, Jesus Christ, to die on our behalf and then raised Him from the dead. This allows believers the possibility of a “new life.” — a life marked by freedom and joy that we can live to the fullest. Jesus said He came so we may have life “and have it abundantly” (John 10:10).

Because we are broken people, we are far from God. But God loved us so much that He sent His Son (John 3:16) to die for us. When we believe in His sacrifice, we receive the Holy Spirit (1 Thess. 1:8) and we are welcomed into God’s family (Eph 2:19). God forgives us our mistakes — past, present and future.

We all share the hurt and pain of our past mistakes. The Gospel tells us God no longer holds our past against us, allowing us to live in the present and for the future. It this present and future that we strive to focus on at Resurrection. We want to view everyone as God views them: living a truly new life in Christ.

Raising Families
Everyone belongs to a family, whether it’s traditional, single-parent or single-person. “Family” is a word for God’s basic building block for society. With the word family, we remind ourselves that we do not live independently, but are always connected to something bigger than just ourselves. God also is concerned with families. In Acts 2, we are told that the promise is not just for us, but for our families who are far off (Acts 2:39). In the New Testament, the church is often likened to a family (Acts 2:39, Eph 2:19; 5:22-6:4, 1 Tim. 3:10, 1 Peter 4:17).

At Resurrection, we take families — all types of families — seriously. Whether you are in a single-person, single-parent, or traditional family, we know that God is calling you to a higher purpose. We want all families to fulfill their purpose.

We also believe that God has called us to be a family. At Resurrection, we strive to be connected with each other in an authentic community that feels a lot like family.

We invite you to join us as we strive to raise families to new life in Christ.

Welcome to Downersmont
At Resurrection, we share God’s love for our community, the Downers Grove and Westmont areas, which we affectionately call Downersmont. God truly loves the people in Downers Grove and Westmont and wants them to know true success.

We are Resurrection love the people of Downersmont. We believe in God’s words to seek the peace and prosperity of the city we live in (Jer. 29:7). We are committed to this area because we believe that God has a special plan that He wants to see accomplished.

What is ‘Missional?’
German Theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer once said, “The church is only the church as it exists for others.” At Resurrection, we believe this to be true and we call our outlook “missional.”

Being ‘missional’ means that we do not exist to serve our own needs or wants. We are here to serve the people in our community and to demonstrate God’s love in physical and tangible ways.

This can take different forms… for instance, it may mean that we help with physical repairs to someone’s house, or that we help a new mom prepare for motherhood. Whatever the particular need, the church exists to connect people to resources and to walk with them through life’s paths.
